David M. Coyne, CFRE, Vice President


Dave Coyne joined The Sheridan Group as Vice President in 2003 and has provided senior-level counsel and a wide range of campaign and marketing services to several TSG clients, including the YMCA of Greater Richmond, Ephrata Community Hospital, John Carroll School, the Society of Interventional Radiology Foundation and the Randolph-Macon Academy. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in June, 2006.

Prior to joining TSG, Dave concluded a four-year tenure as Chief Development Officer of the Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund, coordinating the resource development program for the Endowment Fund and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Previously, he served as Director of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (then National Society of Fund Raising Executives) Foundation and was Director of Annual Giving for Marymount University (Arlington, Va.) before that. He started his career in the non-profit world as a consultant for Kappa Sigma in 1987, and served as its first Director of Development from 1991-1994.

Dave has a demonstrated record of service to the fundraising profession and a strong commitment to professional development and the field of philanthropy. He was a founding member of the AFP Shenandoah (VA) chapter and he has maintained his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential since 1996. He is a past president of the Association Foundation Group (www.afgnet.org), a 250-member national society of association foundation fundraising professionals and a past chair of the AFG National Conference on Association Foundations and Fundraising. He served on the planning committee of the 2010 AFP/DMAW Bridge Conference.

He presently serves as Past President of the Franklin and Marshall College Alumni Board and as a member of the F&M Board of Trustees. In addition, he is a past president of the North-American Interfraternal Foundation, Inc. and the F&M Alumni Greek Council.

Dave received his Bachelor's Degree in 1987 from Franklin & Marshall College and his Master's Degree in Public Communication from Syracuse University in 1990. He lives with his wife, Tanya, director of choral programs at the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC, and two children in Silver Spring, Maryland.
